Ingredients
3 Tbs butter
1/4 cup all purpose flour
3 cups whole milk
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
3 cups sharp cheddar
4 cups cooked macaroni (2 cups uncooked), for serving
Directions
- Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in the flour.
- Cook for one minute while stirring. Whisk in the milk, salt and pepper.
- Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and stir until thick.
- Remove from heat. Stir in the cheese until melted.
- Combine the cheese sauce with the cooked pasta. (This recipe makes enough sauce for 8 ounces of uncooked pasta.)
- Garnish each serving with desired toppings.
